Air Duct & Chimney Services in Pasadena, CA
People in Pasadena call us for duct cleaning, chimney work and dryer vents for the same reason: something in the house is not working the way it used to. Pasadena has one of the largest collections of Craftsman and period revival homes in California, from the bungalows of Bungalow Heaven to the grand houses of Madison Heights and San Rafael. The January 2025 Eaton Fire burned in the hills just north of the city, and smoke and ash reached homes across most of it.

The Homes We Work On Here
Early-1900s Craftsman bungalows in Bungalow Heaven, period revival homes in Madison Heights and San Rafael, and 1950s ranch houses in Hastings Ranch. That mix decides what we find in attics, crawlspaces and flues, and it is why one street can need a different approach from the next.
For chimneys, the common issue is river-rock and clinker-brick Craftsman chimneys, many over a hundred years old, with flues that predate modern liner practice. For dryer vents, it is older houses where the laundry was moved into a back porch or a former service room and the dryer vent was improvised. Behind all of it: Eaton Fire smoke and ash that entered homes across the city in early 2025, on top of the dust and heat that come with the San Gabriel foothills.
Smoke from the Eaton Fire did not stay in Altadena. Homes across the north half of the city drew it in through attic vents and air conditioning returns, and many of those systems still carry fine soot and odor. If the smell comes back every time the system starts, the ducts are the place to look.
Historic masonry deserves careful handling. Old lime mortar and clinker brick do not tolerate the hard cement-based repairs that work on modern chimneys, so we recommend the least invasive repair that will last and match the original look.
Booking Notes
If your home took in smoke during the Eaton Fire, mention it when you call. Post-fire cleaning is priced and scheduled differently from a routine cleaning, and it includes insurance documentation.
Older Craftsman homes often have ducts added long after construction. Knowing roughly when the air conditioning was installed helps us estimate the job.
